Premium Leather Belts that Last a Lifetime
Platte River Trading Company was founded by Mike Schafer in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Mike is a lifelong Nebraskan who was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, where he lived until he was 14 years old. His family migrated to Eastern Nebraska, where Mike has stayed ever since. Mike graduated Hebron High School in Hebron, Nebraska in 1967. Mike moved to Lincoln in 1968, where he has attended the University of Nebraska, raised a family, and worked his entire career. He is mostly retired from a company where he has worked for over 44 years.
Mike was mentored in the leather-making trade by his older brother Steve. Steve has done leather work for over 65 years, and still makes custom leather products in his own shop in Texas. Mike noticed a shortage of quality leather belts in Nebraska, so he began Platte River Trading Co. to make premium leather belts for both men and women.
All Platte River Trading Co. belts are handcrafted by Mike from one strip of premium leather, not synthetic leather products. Our belts are made to last, and customers tell us that the minute they pick up our belts, they can feel and see the quality.
